Multicultural Profile
UNLV Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) encourages and promotes ethnic minority students' social and academic integration into the university. MSA also creates events, activities, and services that encourage minority and majority student populations to explore their cultural identification development and to participate in the diversity efforts that are provided in safe environments. Finally, MSA is committed to developing and sponsoring strategies that allow students to provide leadership in, and advocate for, creating accessible and equitable campus environments that celebrate cultural differences and promote justices.
In addition to forming collaborative partnerships with other divisions on campus to co-sponsor cultural events, MSA has several programmatic initiatives.
MSA allows for the inclusion of all in accessing departmental activities, educational benefits and resources. MSA works to meet the need to develop shared values and experiences that in turn create a sense of wholeness and unity throughout the campus community.
The Ethnic Student Council, advised through Multicultural Student Affairs, sponsors a number of activities designed to help students interact with each other and learn about the diverse populations at UNLV. Guided by the Social Change Model of Leadership, ESC leaders help create a just community that celebrates differences and inclusivity.
MSA provides a number of opportunities to learn and celebrate the different cultures at UNLV and in the world. We invite everyone to participate in these programs, celebrate majority and minority cultures and communities represented at UNLV, and support opportunities for self-exploration of cultural identity.
Student programmers are an important part of the education process - we encourage all students to participate in the program planning efforts, through the Ethnic Student Council.
