College Description
A private, coeducational university of the arts and sciences founded by the Religious Sisters of Mercy in 1947, Salve Regina opened as a college with 58 students and has become a university with over 1,800 undergraduate and 500 graduate students from 43 states and 26 nations. Salve students discover the best of many worlds: Solid academic programs and distinguished faculty, flexible paths to academic and professional success, a spectacular oceanfront campus filled with historic buildings in the heart of a world-famous resort, a safe, secure campus life, and a 50-year tradition of high expectations, personal attention and public service. The University opened in a turn-of-the-century mansion and has continued to create a unique environment for learning and recreation. Situated within Newport's National Historic District, the campus borders Cliff Walk and the Atlantic Ocean and is within walking distance of Newport Harbor, beaches and tourist attractions.

Residence and Student Life staff stress safety, study and social life, working closely with students to arrange movies, parties, dorm trips, workshops and other activities that make dorm life a center of the Salve experience. Quiet hours ensure privacy and respect for dormitory neighbors.
