College Description 
Robert Morris University offers both traditional and innovative educational opportunities in programs that prepare graduates for careers in business, communications, teaching and health-related fields. In addition, Robert Morris provides an unusual choice of environments with a center in Downtown Pittsburgh for commuting students and a 230-acre residential suburban campus in Moon Township, 17 miles from Pittsburgh. 

Founded in 1921, the University has a total enrollment of 4,719, which includes undergraduate and graduate students. Robert Morris is a private, independent institution accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Joint Review Committee on Radiologic Technology Education of the American Medical Association and approved by the Department of Education of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

Academic Life 
Robert Morris University is on a two-semester schedule with various summer sessions. A total of 126 credits are required for the bachelor's degree. Opportunities for international study are available in Australia, Costa Rica, Switzerland and Norway. The University grants degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. RMU has built its reputation by offering strong academic programs in traditional fields like business, accounting, finance, economics, marketing and management. To help prepare students for success in a changing and competitive workforce, the University has created programs in actuarial science, communication, information systems, visual communications, engineering and elementary education during the past decade. The University also offers students the opportunity to earn a global perspective by studying abroad.

Altogether, Robert Morris University offers more than 30 undergraduate degree programs, many of which offer multiple specializations. Bachelor's degree programs include: the bachelor of arts (B.A.) in applied mathematics (including actuarial science), communication (including visual communications), English and social science; the bachelor of science (B.S.) in applied mathematics, business education, economics, elementary education, engineering (logistics and software), hospitality administration, information sciences, information systems management, manufacturing engineering, social science, and tourism administration; and the bachelor of science in business administration (B.S.B.A.) in accounting, economics, finance, finance/economics, health services management, hospitality management, human resource management, logistics management, management, marketing, sport management and tourism management. In addition, RMU offers preparation for state teacher certification in business, communication, English, social studies and mathematics education.

RMU also offers 13 graduate degree programs including: the master of science (M.S.) in accounting, business education, communications and information systems, engineering management, finance, information systems management, instructional leadership, internet information systems, nonprofit management, sport management and taxation; the master of business administration (M.B.A.); and the doctor of science (D.Sc.) in information systems and communications.

Campus Life 
The Student Government Association represents all student organizations, including fraternities and sororities, and members participate in the planning of all social and cultural student activities. The intramural program offers 10 sports for RMU students. 

Facilities and Resources 
The Learning Resource Center provides a variety of learning facilities, including a traditional library with 136,598 bound volumes, 358,555 items on microfilm, and 853 current periodical subscriptions. The collection includes an extensive tax library and specializes in business information and materials. 

The Academic Media Center, with full production facilities, provides students with the opportunities to collaborate on projects in all areas of media, including television production, audio production and photography. 

There are 350 personal computers available for student use throughout the campus. 

Athletics/Sports/Coaches Directory 
The Robert Morris Colonials compete in NCAA Division I-A in all sports except football, which competes in Division I-AA. The University offers 17 varsity sports, including basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, and outdoor track (men); and basketball, crew, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball (women.) The teams compete in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

Financial Aid 
The University has a comprehensive financial aid program that includes scholarship, grants, loans, and work-study programs. More than 80 percent of RMC students receive financial assistance. There are both need-based and achievement-based awards available. The Robert Morris Merit and Honors Scholarship Awards are offered to freshmen applicants who demonstrate high academic achievement and leadership qualities. Other endowed scholarships and grants are available to transfer and continuing students. All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and the grant forms from their own state. 

Admission Requirements 
Robert Morris encourages students from other states to apply; the specialized business and communications programs, especially in the fields of accounting and sport management, attract students from many areas of the country. Primary consideration is given to the applicant's performance in secondary school and scores on the SAT I or ACT. The University functions on a rolling admission system; students are considered for acceptance as soon as all application materials are received and evaluated. Transfer students who have earned credits from another regionally accredited institution are evaluated for admission on the basis of their college performance. 

Interviews are not required for admission; however, students are encouraged to visit either campus and meet with an enrollment manager.
