College Description
Newbury College is a private, nonprofit, coeducational institution located 3.5 miles from Boston. The College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. In its nearly four decades of growth and development, Newbury has established a reputation for quality, career-relevant, and intellectually broadening education. Students enroll in a wide variety of bachelor's and associate degree programs, offered in a flexible format that enhances students' academic and career options. The College recognizes that the development of the whole person requires integration of career education with the study of liberal arts. Therefore, Newbury students are taught professional competencies, critical thinking, writing, and information literacy, and are provided an environment for the application of acquired skills and problem-solving strategies. The college offers bachelor degrees in communication, computer science, interior design, legal studies, psychology, accounting, business management, finance, health care management, international business, marketing, hotel management, and culinary arts/management.

Academic Life
At Newbury College, challenging academic majors cover more than 25 career fields of growing importance around the globe. Each major, whether it leads to a baccalaureate or an associate degree, integrates the professional courses with the liberal arts. Theory and practice each have an important role to play in your academic experience at Newbury College. In the classroom, theory provides a framework to help students grasp the basic principles of their chosen career majors. Practice enables the student to gain firsthand experience both in classroom laboratories and at challenging internship sites. The result is a more meaningful learning experience. Consequently, Newbury College strives to graduate students who are professionally competent, ethically aware, socially responsible, and prepared for lifelong learning and who share a sense of responsibility derived from knowledge, experience, and reflection.

Campus Life
The Brookline campus of Newbury College is nestled in a beautiful residential suburban neighborhood in Brookline, Massachusetts. This campus features Georgian Revival-style architecture consistent with the surrounding community, complemented by numerous contemporary, professionally equipped facilities. Residence halls are located in this traditional collegiate setting. In all, the Brookline campus offers a blend of tranquillity and technology, with easy access by Newbury shuttle service and public transportation to the stimulating culture of America's greatest college town, Boston. Student activities are organized by the Student Government Association (SGA) through an elected council. The SGA supports numerous student organizations, which extend beyond the classroom to meet the needs of today's students. Students help develop the entire activities program through their elected representatives. Some of the clubs and organizations are: Aerobics Club, Black Student Union, Design Guild, Drama Club, Innkeepers Club, International Club, Physical Therapist Assistants Club, Pineapple Club, Radio Club, and Yearbook.

The Library is a member of a consortium of 32 libraries, and extends its services to all members of the Newbury community, including graduates. Computer laboratories are equipped with Macintosh and IBM-compatible computers and include a variety of software. The Career Planning and Placement Center offers students the opportunity to obtain guidance and career counseling throughout their education by means of individual conferences and group workshops, and assists students in job placement upon graduation. The Media Resource Center provides a variety of services to support, supplement, and enrich the academic needs of the Newbury community. A TV studio, a radio studio (WNBY), a darkroom, and a production/preview room are available.

Financial Aid
Newbury College believes that all qualified and motivated applicants, regardless of their financial situations, should have the opportunity to pursue a college degree. We will work with you to help devise a financial strategy to turn your dreams into reality. Institutional aid for full-time Day Division students includes Presidential Scholarships and Newbury Recognition Scholarships. Some other sources of financial aid are: state scholarships, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), the Presidential Loan/Grant Program, federal direct loans, alternative loan programs, Federal Work-Study, and alternative payment options. Newbury College requires that students and parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Newbury College Financial Aid Application (NCFAA) to apply for financial aid. The financial aid priority deadline for new students is March 15th.

Admission Requirements
Candidates for admission to Newbury are reviewed on an individual basis. Emphasis is placed on the candidate's high school transcript; college transcript(s); two letters of recommendation from teachers, guidance counselors, and/or employers; involvement in extracurricular activities; and commitment to his/her field of interest. SAT scores are strongly recommended. Health profession candidates should have a minimum of two years of high school math and science. A personal interview and campus visit are not required, but are strongly recommended. Though Newbury has rolling admission, the staff recommends early application to ensure careful consideration for the applicant's program of choice. The nonrefundable application fee is $30. International students must submit, in addition to the requirements for admission, an affidavit of support demonstrating that they are able to meet the educational and living expenses required for study in the United States for one year, and an official bank statement. A minimum TOEFL score of 450 is also required.
