In New England and across the country, Mitchell College is synonymous with varsity championships. And what makes our program special is that our athletes enjoy success not just on the playing field but also in the classroom.
A member of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 21 and the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), Mitchell supports womens varsity teams in basketball, cross country, soccer, softball and volleyball, mens varsity teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, lacrosse and soccer, and co-ed varsity teams in sailing and tennis.
At Mitchell, we are justifiably proud of our champions not just because they are fine athletes, but because of their academic accomplishments, sportsmanship and great school spirit.
A winning tradition:
- Womens basketball finished second in the 2003 NJCAA National Championship. The Lady Pequots captured both the 2003 Region XXI and Northeast District titles and recorded animpressive 30-3 record
- Mens basketball finished sixth in nation in 2002 after dominating Region XXI play. In that same year, the team's 1000+ point scorer earned a spot among All-Americans.
- Co-ed tennis qualified for the national tournament in four of the last four years. The last two years, the squad finished sixth in the nation and two players achieved All-American status.
- Womens soccer holds six New England titles and is among the country's top programs. The team boasts numerous player accolades including 12 All-Americans and 60 All-New England recipients.
- Mens soccer has advanced to the Region XXI for the last four years. In those four years, three of the team's outstanding players received All-American honors. The men, like the women, are well established as one of the country's best programs.
- Mens baseball is a powerhouse in competitive Region XXI play. In 2002, the team graduated two Academic All-Americans.
- Womens softball, with 12 New England Regional Championships,, has finished as high as eighth overall in the nation.
- Mitchell golf has sent three players to the NJCAA Division III National Championship in the last three years. In 2000, one of those qualifiers took home national medalist honors.
