Messiah College was recognized by USA Today for its exceptionally high rate of graduating student-athletes among NCAA Division III institutions. Messiah ranked fifth in overall graduation rate (93%) and fourth when comparing improvement made from the 1993-1999 class to the 1994-2000 class (13%). Messiah was also noted for having an athlete graduation rate 20% higher than the general student-body which ranked them seventh nationally in that category.

If you're an athlete who's looking for a College that stresses balance, then Messiah may be the place for you! While Messiah sets standards for excellence in Division III intercollegiate athletic programs, we also encourage development of the whole person through sports.

Intercollegiate athletics at Messiah College sets standards for excellence in small college athletic programs. Characterized by outstanding facilities and competitive scheduling, the program has emerged as a highly respected entity among NCAA Division III colleges and universities.

The intercollegiate athletics program at Messiah is relatively young. It has been in existence approximately 30 years. Currently there are 20 varsity sports, 10 for men and 10 for women

Messiah's intercollegiate athletics program is designed to focus on wholeness. Athletes are encouraged to integrate the Christian faith with learning, personal growth and development. The athletics program attempts to balance the value of academics and athletics, and participants are encouraged to prioritize academic achievement.

At Messiah, principles of sportsmanship and fair play take precedence over the results of athletic contests. The physical and psychological well-being of each participant is affirmed in the context of team camaraderie.

Messiah's athletic facilities are state-of-the-art for small colleges. Each sport is supported by resources adequate to conduct a quality, competitive program.

Messiah's athletics program is affiliated with the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation, consisting of 16 private liberal arts colleges located in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our national affiliation is with the NCAA, Division III. Athletic scholarships are not awarded at Division III member institutions.
