SPORTS PROFILE
Lawrence is a founding member of the Midwest Conference, composed of ten liberal arts colleges in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Member schools are Beloit, Carroll, Grinnell, Illinois College, Knox, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Monmouth, Ripon, and St. Norbert.
As a Division III school, Lawrence views athletics as an educational undertaking complementary to other elements of college life. Athletes are students first. Coaches are dedicated to winning and also serve as teachers and mentors to the members of their teams, taking an interest in their personal and academic progress.
Extensive athletic facilities include the Banta Bowl, a 5,255-seat football stadium, Whiting Field, with its eight-lane perma-track, baseball, softball, soocer fields and Alexander Gymnasium dedicated to the intercollegiate sports program.
