The Philadelphia Educational Experience
The city of Philadelphia, the fifth largest city in the United States, serves as a "living lab" where students can interact with area professionals for class projects, internships, co-ops and jobs. More than thirty colleges and universities are located in the metropolitan area providing students with numerous educational and socail opportunities. The "City of Brotherly Love" has grown from its founding in 1682 around the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and surrounds the largest municipal park in the world. With an elegant blend of contemporary and historic architecture, the nation's fifth largest city offers the finest in symphony orchestra, theater, jazz and opera. Spots enthusiasts can follow the National Football League's Eagles, Major League Baseball's Phillies, National Basketball Association Seventy-Sixers and the National Hockey League Flyers at the First Union Center and Veterans Stadium.

Located just across the Skuykill River from Center City, University City has a college-town ambiance. Restaurants, shops and theaters abound with local merchants offering discounts to students. The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University and the Restaurant School campuses are all located here within walking distance to the Amtrak train station.

The city's history is reflected throughout, but is prominent in the areas around Society Hill and Penn's Landing, both of which are within easy walking distance of Thomas Jefferson University.
