IN ADDITION
The School of Business and Computer Information Sciences offers accelerated degree programs in accounting or business administration through eight-week evening classes.
The psychology department is offering an accelerated bachelor's/master's program with a bachelor degree in psychology and a Master of Education in as little as five years.
GMC is recognized for its excellence in the health fields: 98% pass rate in allied health, 95% in nursing. Biology majors have a 85% acceptance rate into professional schools.
Our computer and information science graduates have a 100% job placement rate.

College Description
Gwynedd-Mercy College is a four-year Catholic coeducational college situated on 160 beautiful acres 20 miles from Philadelphia city center. The college was founded in 1948 by the Sisters of Mercy. The character of the college is reflected in its mission to offer value-centered, career-oriented programs integrated with the liberal arts disciplines. Because of it's size, approximately 2200 students, the college has a reputation for personalized education. Class sizes are small, with a high degree of interaction between students and faculty. Students are encouraged to integrate studies and career skills by participating in internships, or work co-op programs at surrounding hospitals, schools, corporations, and social service centers. Nursing and education students actually begin interning their first semester at the college. 93% of our students graduate from Gwynedd-Mercy College.
Academic Life
The college is well known for its liberal arts programs and for profressional programs enriched in the liberal arts. Programs of student include accounting, biology, business administration, business education, cardiovascular technology, criminal justice, computer and information sciences, early childhood education, elementary education, English, gerontology, health information technology, nursing, psychology, radiation therapy technology, respiratory care, secondary education, sociology and special education. Pre-professional programs are available in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, law and optometry. An Honors Program in Liberal Studies is available by invitation for oustanding students. Gwynedd-Mercy College's Center for Lifelong Learning provides the opportunity for working adults to earn one of the following value-centered degrees: (1) Associate in Business Administration (2) Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (3) Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The college offers six Master of Science in Education programs including educational administration, master teacher, mental health counseling, reading, school counseling, and school and community counseling; and two Master of Science in Nursing programs: clinical specialist and nurse practitioner. An MBA is offered in conjunction with La Salle University. Flexible day, evening, and weekend classes allow students to design their schedules to fit their needs and provide an opportunity for continuing education for adult students.
Campus Life
Each student is encouraged to match their talents and interests with the more than 50 clubs, organizations, teams, and activities, such as the first Catholic chapter of Habitat for Humanity; Mercy Corps and Campus Ministry; student publications, including the award winning newspaper The Gwynmercian, the literary magazine The Griffin, or the year book, The Coelian; the choral group, the Voices of Gwynedd, which has performed in Ireland, England and throughout the United States; drama groups; sports; student government, and leadership posts on committees setting school policies, as well as participate in annual events like International Night, Fall Fest, dance marathons, and bowling parties. The cultural, historical, and entertainment facilities of Philadelphia are made accesible to students by a local commuter train. The college provides free shuttle service to the train and to local malls for dining and movies.
Facilities and Resources
Lourdes Library is equipped with computerized access to collections and to the World Wide Web. It also houses the Academic Resource Center, which provides state-of-the-art computers, tutorial software, a video library, professional tutoring in writing and math, and workshops on test-taking, skills development, and resume writing. The Center for Creative Studies has over 1,000 volumes on the theory of creativity and creative learning and development in the library. The Lincoln Library in Assumption Hall contains a large adjunct collection of books on Lincoln and the Civil War. Theaters include the Julia Ball Auditorium, a small in-the round-theater, and a TV production studio. The Valie Genuardi Hobbit House is a laboratory school for preschoolers located on the campus. A student lounge dedicated as an International Center for Understanding and Culture was opened in 1986. The lounge provides a meeting place for students who represent 30 different countries. And our multimillion-dollar sports facility, the Griffin Complex, houses our student union. Keiss Hall, a 46,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art health and science center, is home to the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions. Two new additions have been added to the college's original residence hall, Loyola Hall."
Sports / Varsity Athletics
Gwynedd-Mercy College is a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, Philadelphia Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, and NCAA Division III. Men compete in soccer, basketball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, cross-country, baseball, and golf. Women compete in field hockey, volleyball, tennis, basketball, softball, indoor and outdoor track, cross-country, tennis, soccer and lacrosse.The multimillion-dollar sports center includes a full-size collegiate basketball court, indoor track, aerobics room, racquetball, volleyball, and wallyball courts, weight room, and saunas. The 160-acre campus has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, and playing fields for softball, lacrosse, baseball, soccer and field hockey.
Financial Aid / Scholarships
Gwynedd-Mercy's financial aid program is designed to provide financial assistance to academically qualified students whose resources are inadequate to meet the cost of attendance at the college. Concerted effort is made to provide financial aid for all qualified applicants, using college, federal, state, and private funds. Financial aid is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. The average package for qualified applicants, including all available resources, is $12,170. Resources include merit awards, grants from the college, state and federal loans and grants, nursing student loans, and work-study. Employment opportunities on and off campus are excellent. Early submission of the college financial aid form and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is encouraged.
Admission Requirements
Regular: Graduation from a secondary school or GED is required, with an academic curriculum of 4 years English, 3 math, 3 science (1 lab science). The caliber of school record, standardized test results, class rank, and letter of recommendation from the school are considered. All applicants are encouraged to visit with an admissions counselor, as certain majors have additional application requirements. Transfer Admissions: Transfer applicants must submit all previous college work for review. A 2.0 is required and a letter of recommendation must be submitted. Verification of secondary school graduation or GED is required. International students must submit TOEFL scores (500 or above) and WES evaluation of credits from foreign institutions. An ESL program is offered. Applications are taken for both fall and spring semesters on a rolling basis. It is recommended that applications be submitted by August 1 for the fall semester or December 15 for the spring. Applications received after these dates may have time complications.
