Dowling College's M.B.A. programs are recognized for addressing issues relative to the global economy. The School's international scope continues to develop through Dowling College's National Aviation and Transportation CenterÒ, a unique facility dedicated to the study and research of global transportation issues. The M.B.A. programs provide an educational foundation for responsible business leadership. Dowling's M.B.A. student population is a diverse one, ranging from recent bachelor's degree graduates to established professionals. The average age is 32 and graduate students comprise 37% of the student body. The Community Dowling is known as The Personal College, committed to a learning environment that encourages and provides for each individual's potential. The main campus is nestled on a 52-acre campus along the picturesque banks of the Connetquot River on Long Island's South Shore. Approximately 50 miles east of midtown Manhattan, it is within easy reach of New York's theaters and museums and just minutes from Long Island's beautiful beaches, parks, recreational facilities, and other cultural attractions. In recognition of its responsibilities to the entire Long Island community, the College opens its facilities to the public for special events, such as lectures, theater presentations, musical performances, sports activities, and exhibits. Programs of study and degree requirements The degree in General Management provides students with a comprehensive foundation in various managerial disciplines. It is the ideal degree for students who did not specialize in business at the undergraduate level. The M.B.A. in Aviation Management is designed for aviation professionals as well as individuals who aspire to land positions in the industry. Managers will learn to run their divisions more efficiently and keep pace with the kinetic elements impacting the aviation industry today. The degree in Banking and Finance will prepare graduates for the global economy. Due to the changing financial market worldwide and the variety of financial instruments, the information needed to thrive in this environment is expanding rapidly. Acquiring the skills necessary to manage not-for-profit institutions or government agencies is at the core of the Public Management M.B.A. program. Courses such as Quantitative Methods for Public Sector Decision Making and Public Sector Economics helps focus the 36-credit program on the specifics of this diverse field. The M.B.A. in Total Quality Management (TQM) challenges students to meet customers needs, in addition to traditional business operations. Students are instructed in TQM theories by faculty members who are leaders in quality management education. Dowling also offers busy executives the opportunity to earn their M.B.A. in General Management or Banking and Finance in an innovative 16-month, Saturday-only program. Facilities & Resources Expenses and Aid While numerous scholarships programs are available, various financing methods can be explored with a personal financial aid counselor. The College offers students individual guidance on flexible payment options available, such as a tuition and fee deferred payment plan. Credit cards may also be used to pay tuition and fees. Additionally, new students may have their tuition charges frozen at their entering semester rate for two academic years. The areas of study might include accounting, economics, quantitative methods, computer science, and management.
