Dowling College's M.B.A. programs are recognized for addressing issues relative to the global economy. The School's international scope continues to develop through Dowling College's National Aviation and Transportation CenterÒ, a unique facility dedicated to the study and research of global transportation issues.

The M.B.A. programs provide an educational foundation for responsible business leadership. Emphasis is placed on creating a sense of responsibility to qualify the student as a prospective manager whose mission is to assume social responsibility as well as to serve his or her own economic interest.

Dowling's M.B.A. student population is a diverse one, ranging from recent bachelor's degree graduates to established professionals. The average age is 32 and graduate students comprise 37% of the student body.

The Community
Dowling College is an independent, comprehensive college. Founded in 1955 and named in honor of its benefactor, Robert W. Dowling, noted financier and patron of the arts, it serves 5,998 full- and part- time undergraduate and graduate students.

Dowling is known as The Personal College, committed to a learning environment that encourages and provides for each individual's potential. The main campus is nestled on a 52-acre campus along the picturesque banks of the Connetquot River on Long Island's South Shore. Approximately 50 miles east of midtown Manhattan, it is within easy reach of New York's theaters and museums and just minutes from Long Island's beautiful beaches, parks, recreational facilities, and other cultural attractions.

In recognition of its responsibilities to the entire Long Island community, the College opens its facilities to the public for special events, such as lectures, theater presentations, musical performances, sports activities, and exhibits.

Programs of study and degree requirements
Dowling offers five M.B.A. degree programs: General Management, Aviation Management, Banking and Finance, Public Management, and Total Quality Management.

The degree in General Management provides students with a comprehensive foundation in various managerial disciplines. It is the ideal degree for students who did not specialize in business at the undergraduate level.

The M.B.A. in Aviation Management is designed for aviation professionals as well as individuals who aspire to land positions in the industry. Managers will learn to run their divisions more efficiently and keep pace with the kinetic elements impacting the aviation industry today.

The degree in Banking and Finance will prepare graduates for the global economy. Due to the changing financial market worldwide and the variety of financial instruments, the information needed to thrive in this environment is expanding rapidly.

Acquiring the skills necessary to manage not-for-profit institutions or government agencies is at the core of the Public Management M.B.A. program. Courses such as Quantitative Methods for Public Sector Decision Making and Public Sector Economics helps focus the 36-credit program on the specifics of this diverse field.

The M.B.A. in Total Quality Management (TQM) challenges students to meet customers needs, in addition to traditional business operations. Students are instructed in TQM theories by faculty members who are leaders in quality management education.

Dowling also offers busy executives the opportunity to earn their M.B.A. in General Management or Banking and Finance in an innovative 16-month, Saturday-only program.

Facilities & Resources
Classes are conducted in the Racanelli Center at the Dowling College Oakdale campus. The building also houses the College's library. It holds 182,661 volumes, 1,100 current periodicals, and access to an additional 1,000 full-text periodical and newspaper articles online; 577,097 microforms, 2,721videotapes, and 367computer databases. Dowling is also continuously expanding its "Collections of Excellence" in Management Systems and Leadership. The office of Cooperative Education maintains a network of partnerships with businesses on Long Island, in New York, and across the nation. Students are also encouraged to attend the varied networking activities that Dowling's alumni organization provides throughout the year.

Expenses and Aid
Tuition is $693 per graduate credit and certain student fees are applicable. On-campus housing is available in apartment-style suites for $4,600 per year and there are ample off-campus apartments within easy travel distance of the College.

While numerous scholarships programs are available, various financing methods can be explored with a personal financial aid counselor. The College offers students individual guidance on flexible payment options available, such as a tuition and fee deferred payment plan. Credit cards may also be used to pay tuition and fees. Additionally, new students may have their tuition charges frozen at their entering semester rate for two academic years.

How to Apply
Each candidate's academic record, scores on the required Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), and work experience are considered in the admission process. A GMAT score of 475 or more and a minimum 2.8 GPA in Undergraduate work are preferred.

In addition to the minimum 36 credits of graduate work, each qualified applicant with a limited background in business administration must successfully complete certain preparatory courses. The areas of study might include accounting, economics, quantitative methods, computer science, and management. For students using English as a second language, A TOEFL score of 550 or better is required.
