Multicultural Profile
Thirteen percent of the student body of Chatham University is comprised of African-American women. Add to that 36 women representing 19 foreign countries, and you begin to get a picture of the diversity of which Chatham College is extremely proud.
On campus, the Black Student Union serves not only African-American students at Chatham, but also provides stimulating social and cultural events for all students. From the Kwanzaa celebration at holiday time to Black History Month in February, educational and entertainment offerings reflect the multi-talented student body at this women's college of 650 students. In addition, courses from the College's African-American Studies Department allow all students an opportunity to learn about African culture.
Rated one of America's "Best Buys in College Education" (Barron's, second edition), Chatham is committed to helping students finance their college education. More than 85 percent of students receive some form of aid including International Student Scholarships,.Transfer Scholarships, Chatham grants, loans and college work-study.
Chatham's connection with the city of Pittsburgh, just 15 minutes away, is unique. In fact, we consider the city an extended classroom. The urban setting offers many additional choices for study and social activities.

Regular tuition payments cover the cost of Chatham Abroad - a program where juniors travel and study abroad during the January Interim term. (The exception to this is transfer students who may pay additional costs depending on the number of credits they earned at Chatham). Through interaction with people from various cultures on campus, off campus and around the world, Chatham provides you the opportunity to literally "take on the world".
